Happy feet

For anyone who hasn't seen the new animated movie Happy Feet, it's gotten mixed reviews because some believe it has a hidden political agenda to twist the minds of our children. Basically, it teaches kids to be environmentally aware of their actions because they really do affect the entire ecosystem. One of our columnists, Andie Clum, wrote about it in the Wednesday Sunflower, and I have to say that I loved her column. She argued that teaching children about the environment and "to be proud enough to be themselves, even if that means being different" are both "positive lessons." Why should we hide this information from our children? Why should we not tell them that eating a fish sandwich and McDonalds could translate to eating Nemo? They have a right to know, just like the rest of the community, to be conscious of every choice they make.
